Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. on October 20, 1971, tied the knot with Shante Broadus in 1997. Together, they have three children: Corde, Cordell, and Cori, along with Julian, Snoop’s son from another relationship. Now a proud grandfather, Snoop cherishes the memories of his family, including a grandchild he tragically lost. In 2007, he showcased his more personal side on the reality show “Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood”, revealing his life as a devoted family man.
While promoting Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood, he shared in an interview, “I got kids, and I always play my music for them. I like to hear what they like. They think I’m old, but I think I’m young.”
For Snoop, fatherhood has been a transformative journey. He noted, “Ninety percent of rappers grew up without fathers, but you see ninety percent of those rappers becoming fathers to their kids. We don’t ever get commended for that. We become real men when we get to this level we’re at right now.”

Earlier this year, during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, he shared that his grandchildren affectionately call him “Papa Snoop,” a nickname coined by his eldest grandson. Snoop remarked, “[My grandkids are] different ages, ranges, [and] sizes and I love them all the same way. Actually, my oldest [grandson’s] birthday is today so I’m on my way to his birthday party when I leave here.”
Snoop Dogg fondly recalled that his eldest grandchild initially called him “Papa Noop” because he struggled to pronounce “Snoop.”
However, in September 2019, the family endured a devastating loss with the passing of Snoop’s grandson, Kai Love, who was only 10 days old. In the wake of this tragedy, Snoop shared a heartfelt message reflecting his feelings: “If you’re facing something you don’t understand: Choose to trust God. Remember all He has done for you. His ways are higher than ours. He is always good.”
Kai’s parents, Snoop’s son Corde Broadus and his wife, Soraya Love, were equally heartbroken over the loss of their child. On what would have been Kai’s first birthday, Soraya shared an emotional message on Instagram.
“Happy heavenly birthday to my 1st son Kai Love who passed away 9-15-2019,” she wrote. In her heartfelt tribute, she expressed, “I know God used this painful time in our family’s life, knowing I will use that to help those in need of that knowledge of GOD and SELF.” She went on to describe how her loss inspired her to embrace a life focused on wellness, spirituality, and community support.
In her heartfelt message, she expressed, “The pain of losing a child you created in YOUR body is very traumatic feeling that never goes away…since that moment God has guided my steps and shown me a deeper soul purpose…to get close to God, improve your heart health through lifestyle choices, relationship standards, family dynamic, generational curse breaking; food choices, self-love, serving those in need of help mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally [sic].”
Inspired by their profound loss, the parents established the “Kai Heart Foundation,” an organization dedicated to spreading love and healing within the community.
In a March 2024 post, Soraya expressed, “We would love to partner with any Organizations that help heal -educate -assist humans with LOVE 🙏🏽this is our soul purpose and want to keep giving back to community in any way we can ♥️[sic].”
In another message, she shared the foundation’s mission: “Started Kai Heart Foundation in 2019 after my son Kai passed away at 10 days from heart defect…He inspired me to help other mothers, men, women; children in the world through acts of LOVE + healthy lifestyle [sic].”
Snoop’s eldest grandchild is Zion Kalvin Broadus, born in January 2015 to Snoop’s son Corde Broadus and his partner at the time, Jessica Kyzer. Snoop was overjoyed by the arrival, sharing a video captioned, “Proud grandad. My son spank n grandson Zion !!🍼🙏🌟✨Jah bless.”
In 2018, Corde and his wife Soraya Love welcomed their daughter, Elleven Love Broadus. The couple celebrated their daughter’s fifth birthday in 2023, with Soraya posting on Instagram: “HAPPY 5th BORN DAY TO MY 1st BORN E11EVEN🤩☺️😍this old soul/young Queen taught me how to be a mom when I didn’t even know how to change a diaper [sic]”
In March 2019, Snoop’s family celebrated the arrival of Cordoba Journey Broadus. The young star made headlines last year for her appearance at a Chanel fashion show, where she wowed the audience in a sleek black leather jacket paired with a white top featuring Chanel’s iconic logo.
In 2021, the family welcomed Sky Love Broadus, born to Corde and Soraya. Snoop’s wife, Shante Broadus, affectionately known as ‘Mama Tae’ by her grandbabies, shared a heartwarming video of the newborn on social media, captioning it, “I’m So Happy My 5th GrandBaby Boy Was Born Today 💙💙 [sic].”
